Twitter Video Downloader
Paste the link of a post on X (Twitter) and save its video or GIF as an MP4 in the quality you choose. Free, with no app and no login.
How to Download a Twitter Video
Downloading a video from X (Twitter) takes three steps.
Copy the post link
Open the post in the X app, tap the share icon, then tap Copy link. On a computer, copy the address from the browser's address bar.
Paste the link above
Tap Paste, then select Get video.
Choose a quality and save the MP4 file
The post appears with a button for each quality X provides. Select one and the file is saved to your device.
What Is a Twitter Video Downloader?
A Twitter video downloader is an online tool that turns the link of a public post on X, formerly Twitter, into an MP4 file you can keep on your phone or computer. You give it the link of a post, and it gives you the video file.
X itself offers a Download video option only to Premium subscribers, and only on posts whose author allows it. The article on X Premium downloads lists the conditions. A bookmark is not a file either: a bookmarked video disappears when its author deletes the post.
The tool asks X for the same public data an embedded post uses on other websites. That data lists the video files X stores for the post. The downloader passes the file you choose to your browser, so the copy stays on your device and plays without an internet connection.
What You Get With Every Download
- A choice of quality
- You get a button for every version X stores for the video, from the smallest file to the sharpest one. Each button shows the resolution and an estimated file size.
- HD and 4K when X has them
- Most videos are available in 720p or 1080p. Videos that were uploaded in 4K also get a 2160p button.
- GIFs as MP4
- X stores every GIF as a short looping MP4 video. The tool saves that file, which plays on any device.
- A file that opens in editors
- Every file is an H.264 MP4. H.264 opens in CapCut, Premiere Pro, iMovie and the default Windows player without extra codecs.
- Free, with no limit
- There is no charge, no daily cap and no premium plan. Videos are downloaded one at a time.
- No app and no login
- Everything runs in your web browser. You never enter an X username or password.
Download Twitter Videos on iPhone, Android and PC
The three steps are the same on every device. Only the place where the file lands is different.
iPhone and iPad
Use Safari on iOS 13 or later. Safari saves the video to the Downloads folder inside the Files app. To move it to your camera roll, open the file, tap Share, then tap Save Video.
Android
Use Chrome or any other browser. The video goes to the Downloads folder. You can open it from the Files app, and most gallery apps list it in a Downloads album.
Windows PC and Mac
Open x.com in a browser, select the post so it opens on its own page, and copy the address. The MP4 is saved to your Downloads folder unless your browser is set to ask where to save each file.
Video Quality and File Format
Every download is an MP4 file with H.264 video. MP4 plays on phones, tablets, computers and smart TVs without a converter.
X compresses each uploaded video and stores several versions of it, usually 270p, 360p, 720p and 1080p. The tool lists exactly the versions X stores for that post. A downloader cannot add detail that X did not keep, so a 2160p button appears only when the video was uploaded in 4K, and a claim of 8K Twitter downloads is not realistic. The guide to Twitter video quality explains the versions in detail.
A higher quality means a larger file. X does not publish file sizes, so the size on each button is an estimate calculated from the bitrate and the length of the video. Choose 720p when you want a small file for a phone, and 1080p or higher when you plan to edit the video.
Which Twitter Links Work
The tool accepts every link format X produces for a single post.
| Link type | Example | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Post link | x.com/user/status/1234567890123456789 | Copy link in the app, or the address bar |
| Old Twitter link | twitter.com/user/status/1234567890123456789 | Links shared before the change to X |
| Second video of a post | x.com/user/status/1234567890123456789/video/2 | The address bar after you open that video |
Links to a profile, a search, a list or a Space do not point to a single post and will not work.
Why a Twitter Video Will Not Download
If the tool returns an error, one of these six causes explains it. The list of Twitter video errors covers each one in detail.
- The account is protected. The tool sees only what a visitor without an account can see. Posts from protected accounts stay private.
- The post was deleted or the account was suspended. A link to a post that no longer exists returns nothing.
- The post is age-restricted. X shows sensitive posts only to signed-in adults, so the tool cannot read them.
- The post has no video. This tool saves videos and GIFs. A post with only text or photos has no video file.
- The post is a live broadcast or a Space. Live video and audio rooms are streams, and X stores no MP4 file for them.
- X did not answer in time. This happens during busy hours. Wait a minute and try again.
Is It Safe and Legal to Download Twitter Videos?
The tool is safe to use because it asks for nothing except a link. You do not sign in, install software or grant any permission. The video passes through our server to your browser and is not kept on the server afterward.
Whether a download is legal depends on what you do with the file. Saving a video to watch offline or to keep a copy of your own post is ordinary personal use. Reposting, editing or selling another person's video requires that person's permission, because the creator keeps the copyright.
The practical rule: download your own videos freely, and ask the creator before you reuse anyone else's. This page is general information and is not legal advice.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this Twitter video downloader free?
Yes. Every download is free and there is no paid plan. The site may show ads to cover its running costs.
Do I need an X account to download a video?
No. The tool works from the post link alone. You never enter an X username or password.
Does it work with both x.com and twitter.com links?
Yes. Both addresses lead to the same post, and the tool accepts either one.
Can I download Twitter videos in 1080p or 4K?
Yes, when X stores that version. The tool shows a button for every quality available for the post, and it cannot produce a higher resolution than X stores.
Can I download a GIF from Twitter?
Yes. X stores GIFs as MP4 video, so the saved file is an MP4 that loops and has no sound. It is not a .gif file.
What happens when a post has more than one video?
The tool saves the first video. To get another one, open that video on X and copy the address, which ends in /video/2 or a higher number.
Can I download a video from a protected account?
No. The tool reads only public posts. A post from a protected account is visible only to followers the owner approved.
Can I save only the sound as an MP3?
No. This page saves the video as an MP4 file. It does not convert video to audio.
Does the author get a notification when I download a video?
No. The download happens outside X and is not linked to any X account, so X has nothing to notify the author about.
Where is the video saved after the download?
The video is saved in your browser's Downloads folder. On an iPhone, that folder is inside the Files app.
